[The Trojan Horse] German unpunctuality in times of crisis

(cb) – In absolute contrast to German punctuality, the German foreign minister was the only one being late at the meeting. “People are late, it’s a crisis”, the Philippine representative groaned immediately. What could be more important than a meeting between the defence and foreign ministers in an international cyber crisis? Was he trapped in a revolving door like it happened to a Chinese delegate a few days ago. The Chinese delegate got released after 26 hours trapped in the revolving door. He currently stays in the hospital but will soon get out.

Finally, the German foreign minister appeared with a Red Bull in hand insulting the journalists: “You want to take a fucking picture?” Is this the new tone practiced in Germany?

[The Trojan Horse] Does Germany catch at world dominance? … Again?

(pp) – An interview with German minister of defence has sparked outrage. Being unwilling to comment on the purpose of the recent re-enactment of military service, she suggested that a German military operation is imminent, in reaction to whatever “crisis” the world might be shook by. Maybe the crisis is just – again – German plans of world dominance.

[The Wire] “In crisis situations, heavy measures have to be taken”: The German government re-enacts mandatory military service

(pp) – The federal government re-enacts mandatory military service. This move shortly follows the call of the “Bundeswehr” to standby. Activists voice their concerns that the government might be planning a larger military intervention in- or outside the country. Minister of interior Horst Seehofer just recently had denied such plans and claimed putting the army into standby was “completely normal”.

However, we will see if enacting mandatory military service will be perceived as normal by the German people. While internationally, mandatory mlitary service is nothing special, former German minister of defense Karl-Theodor zu Gutenberg “suspended” it in 2011. Although the legal framework is still in place, it is not being made use of.

Back in 2011, this step was perceived positively in large parts of the German population. In fact, after the re-enactment was made public, the approval rate of the federal government has dropped to 35%.

The German minister of defence, Ursula von der Leyen, expressed her sympathy with “the young men who are concerned” in an exclusive interview with the Wire. “But we can assure them, that this is necessary for the security of their families. We are sure to have taken the right decision and it was undisputed in the cabinet”, she continued. She did not want to comment, however, if there are specific plans for a military intervention. “In crisis situations, heavy measures have to be taken”, she explained.

[The Trojan Horse] How to NOT deal with a crisis: Russian Minister of Defense resurfaced

The Russian minister of defense, who went missing yesterday evening, was spotted again in the company of his fellow cabinet members. This comes to the great relief of the international community after rumors spread about a possible sacking and imprisoning in the infamous Gulag-Camps in Siberia. Insiders in the Russian defense department actually confirmed that Mr. Shoigu took a short vacation on the recently annexed island of Crimea to spend some time training his newly acquired race horse “Manila”.

[The Trojan Horse] A small step for a nation, a bigger step for peace

(hh) – Dear sisters and brothers, we are moving! The first international meeting happened and we are going to report exclusively for you. So the Russian Cabinet invited all Ministers of Foreign Affairs to join them in a meeting regarding the drone incident in Syria that killed three Russian Soldiers. Russia focused on being included in the new drone technology knowledge when Germany and the USA justified their bilateral trust bond while excluding the other represented members. The Russians were also quite pissed about not receiving any immediate international responses to their losses.

Well we have to give Russia some credit as they, next to China, seem to be the only ones interested in international cooperation regarding cyber security. After the others had left, Russia came up with a pretty good agreement and is now waiting to get positive responses. We highly appreciate their step towards a united direction and hope that the others will support them. #makeagreementsnotwar
